When you live together, life's awesome

I have had a turbulent 3 years. During my masters, all I wanted to do was to become a film maker. I was no where close to achieving that dream and all of a sudden I was pulled into working on a Hindi Movie with some of the biggest stars. Rubbing shoulders with them on a daily basis meant that I was learning a lot from them each day and this started getting me closer to what I wanted.

Soon that stint got over and i went on to finish my Masters in Communication and got hired by one of the largest PR agencies in the world. Through this time I had my family with me to support me through out. They knew that I wanted to be in the movie making business but I was there doing PR. It was great,  but not fun. I knew the stuff, but I did not enjoy it as much. It was during this period that, a friend of mine went and auditioned for a role in a Kannada movie. She however did not go on to act in the movie because of her reasons, but she did something that I shall never forget. She went on to show my pictures to the producers and I was called on for an audition.

And like they say, "...the rest is history". I bagged the lead role in a film, which was a huge huge thing. They say that when you are doing something good, you often face a lot of obstacles before you can finally execute it. That holds true for my journey. After I bagged the role, I wnet on to work in the PR firm for about 6 months before I started shooting for the film. We completed the shoot in about 40 days. It was a tough decision to take. Leaving a secure 9-5 job and jumping into a 12 hour shift, with no security. My mother stood with me through out this. She supported me constantly and let me chase my dreams no matter what. It has been tough on her. She had to answer people on why her son wasn't working, but today when she sees my progress, I know I have made her proud.

If it wasn't for her, I would have continued to sit in an office with AC, gotten fat and yet not been satisfied with my efforts. My movie took about an year to finally come out to be what it looks like today and we just concluded a private screening a couple of days back! It has been a fun ride. If you have your family with you, together, you can chase your dreams, get through any kind of phases and yet come out victorious.

I believe in the inimitable power of optimism just like does. As rightly preaches - most times, it's the company that matters more than the advice, and that is the power of being #together!
