Intel Inside everything! Intel's all new processors

Gone are the days when you would see those ads with "Intel Inside" on TV. But the days of processors aren't over yet. Intel having re-invented itself into one of the fastest growing mobile processor companies, it is but obvious that the first company which comes in mind is Intel.
We are lightening generation. We want everything at out fingertips. I remember when we were young how our lives revolved around our computers. There used to be a time when there were systems which had chipsets which supported only 64 MB RAM and that used to cost high and was said to be the most high-end chipset.
Intel Processors i3, i5, i7 for smartphones
Computers have been our best friends for eternity. There is not a moment when we thought we could survive without that machine.
But things have changed due to the immense evolution in the mobile industry. There has been an apparent shift in our best friends from computers to mobile phones. The biggest reason for that is surely the fact that we can carry mobile phone to any place we go. In this greedy world, the performance of the processors have not not matched the users greed, as the smartphone industry is seeing growth, the greed for high-end processors is also increasing.
Intel has launched new processors for smartphones. They have built the processor keeping every profession in mind – The Gamers, The Creators, The Musicians, The Artists, etc.  With the new Intel processors, I’m sure that the hunger for speed will be satiated. Not just that, a lot of other features of the mobile like battery life, visual experience, etc. gets enhanced once it has any of the following processor – 6th generation Intel Core i3 Processor, 6th generation Intel Core i5 Processor and 6th generation Intel Core i5 Processor.
The newly designed 6th Generation processors for mobile comes with a new micro-architecture design that delivers fast performance with a very good management of power. The power management credit goes to the Turbo Boost 2.0 which dynamically controls power and performance for cores and graphics. It has been designed in such a way that it boosts performance when the situation demands and saves battery otherwise.
Performance enhancement can be credited to some other features as well. They are –  Integrated Memory Controller (it boosts memory performance by prefetching algorithms, lower latency and higher memory bandwidth) and Intel Smart cache (it allots memory dynamically in cache to each core of the processor based on workload).
The Intel Hyper Threading Technology (Intel HT Technology) helps support two cores and four threads in Y-series and U-series processors. Highly threaded applications get more work done parallel and in a shorter time. Intel will be introducing its first mobile K SKU with enhanced overlocking through BCLK and DDR4 overlocking and quad-core processing for i5 in mobiles with the 6th Generation Intel Core processor.
With an elite mixture of Intel HD graphics (playing HD videos, viewing and editing photos and playing latest games on your phone), Intel Iris graphics (better video and photo editing) and Intel Iris Pro graphics (amazing graphics performance to enthusiasts, content creators and gamers demand), Intel bring to you sky touching visual effects at HD 4K. These effects help you create videos or similar stuffs or play games at another level altogether. Programmers can easily play around with features like OpenCL 2.0 to support graphics programmability.
Viewing videos and images on the phone is also enhanced.  The Intel Quick Sync Video delivers high end picture quality during video calls, faster video conversion. It will also boost your online tasks like online sharing and fast video editing. Intel Clear Video HD helps in enhancing HD playbacks and immersive web browsing. Intel Wireless Display helps you stream your media or any online media to HDTV with a wireless connection.
There are three series for the processor – Y-series, U-series and H-series. The H series gives you additional execution units, the U series gives you eDRAM (on selected processors) for exceptional compute and graphics processing power which helps the boost in visuals.
The 6th Gen Intel core processors give a solution to battery life as well. Any new feature is accompanied by the fear of how it will affect the battery life. As mentioned earlier, the processor boosts performance when situation demands and saves battery otherwise. For example, in situations like video playback or video calls, a new low power media transcode enhancement helps reduce power consumption. Also, the batteries have been made thinner and lighter.

6th Gen Intel i7 processor for smartphones (Skylake)

The 6th Gen Intel core processors come in 3 different series i.e. the Intel i3, i5 and i7 which comes with different models based on the cache and clock rate. Out of all the processors, the Intel i7 processor has 6 different models price beginning from $378 – $568. Check the comparison of all the 6th Gen Intel i7 processor for mobiles: Comparison between all 6th Gen Intel i7 processor for smartphones.
The processor has a good clock rate but doesn’t have enough number of cores, so multitasking would be an issue while playing high-end games, However, the Quad core version of the Intel i7 processor for smartphone would do good when it comes to multi-tasking, but costs high. The pricing set by Intel, according to its standards is good, but it would be difficult for Intel to compete with Qualcomm because of the pricing.
Going through the specs, any Intel processor would be able to play the high-end games like NBA 2K15, Modern Combat, Game of Thrones etc. But throttling and heating issues will be seen while multi-tasking.

6th Gen Intel i5 processor for  Smartphones (Skylake)

The Intel i5 also comes in 4 different models whose price range begins from  $250 and ends at $281. The comparison between all the 4 models of the i5 mobile processor can be found here: Comparison between all Intel i5 mobile processors.
The Intel i5 skylake comes with a lot of intel features which will improve the overall performance, Having a high clock rate with less cores is the problem, but the Intel’s hyper threading technology will take care of multi-tasking. But there are chances that the Intel i5 processor for smartphones might face heating issues.

5th Gen Intel vPro Processors.

Moving from the mobile centric processors, it isnt as though Intel stopped making processors for computers altogether. The 5th Gen vPro are most suitable for laptops and tablets. The 5th Gen Intel vPro processors is most suited for the Enterprise level devices. There are many enterprises which provide a tablet/laptop to their employees, the vPro processors work best for those tablets.
The 5th Gen Intel vPro processors feature a wireless display, has good security, it works faster and can be found and fixed anywhere. It is one of the best form of Wireless convenience, as it automatically connects to your keyboard, mouse and other USB accessories enabled by Intel Wireless Gigabyte Technology.
With the Intel® Unite™5 technology on the 5th Gen Intel vPro processors, Meeting can be connected and held in a smarter way, as it won’t take time to connect to projectors and other required accessories.
The prices of the processors (chipset) noticeably high, We also know many of the high-end gadgets which come for that price, but all these processors will easily be able to handle high-end games like NBA 2K15, Modern Combat, Game of Thrones etc. The processors are just launched and will be available in the market soon with many devices.

Own the FlexBall- All new Gillette Fusion FlexBall review

Gone are those days when owning a Single blade razor and carving your face was cool. I am serious. My grand dad owned a Gillette Single blade razor that he got from England and used it until the last. I too used it when I just started shaving. To get used to it. Atleast I wouldn't cut my skin.

But, in the last few years, Gillette came out with some amazing razors that not only made shaving easy, but fun, and fast. It started with the Mach3 that still is used by a lot of men across the world. My dad and my brother still do.

Only recently I bought the Gillette Fusion, the 5 blade awesome razor that gave me closer shaves and smoother skin. The razor also sports a single blade on the back of the blade that enables you to give sharp cuts where needed.

In today's world where electronic shavers are getting innovative in their designs to make shaves easier and better, Gillette has now sort off pulled a masterstroke. They recently launched the all new Gillette Fusion FlexBall in India that has an amazing handle that allows you to shave on with ease, all in one stroke. The handle has a moving ball that adjusts to your stroke and jawline to give you a smoother shave. It doesn't matter which direction you are shaving, the ball works in any way.

I got my package of the FlexBall and was among the first ones to receive and review. I had my wedding around the same time that I got it and it was the perfect time to be clean shaven. A day before the D-Day, I pulled it out and went on with my business, this time only to be done faster than I usually take. Not that shaving takes hours, but you need to be careful to avoid cuts and rashes.

My primary reason to move to a 5 blade razor was to avoid that. After I moved to using the Fusion from the Mach3, my blades lasted longer and the cuts and rashes went to almost nil.

The Fusion FlexBall, I guess with more use will cut it down completely. After all, it the best a Man can get!

The Gillette Fusion FlexBall is available in all leading stores across the country for just ₹499. Go get yours now and #OwnTheFlexBall

The Philips Body Groomer Giveaway!

In my last post, you read my review on the new Philips Body Grooming 1000 series, that are super helpful for any man today, to maintain, and look good and not to forget, maintain hygiene.

Philips Body Groomer series- Review

Last month Philips India introduced a new product category the Philips Bodygrooming range -  which will help get rid men of unwanted body hair that often come in the way of self confidence, stylish apparel and intimacy! The concerns of excessive body hair will now be a thing of the past, as Philips Bodygroomers can go clear the jungles where no razor should go. Basically go #UnPain.

Philips Male Grooming business offers a wide range of electronic devices for trimming, shaving and grooming. Philips believes in the trend of casual and DIY (Do It Yourself) styling, therefore Philips has brought the new Bodygroomers to address the needs of contemporary Indian men. The Philips Bodygrooming range has been designed to suit the Indian male skin and smoothly help them get rid of body hair in a painless and skin-friendly manner & relieve all the men from the ever painful body grooming issues.

Any man would agree, getting their chests waxed or shaved is irritating mainly because of the pain that is involved. Even the under arms, leave you with irritated, cut skin and rashes lead to burns when you are done with the cleaning.

No body today likes to be the gorilla moving around with chest hair popping out of your shirts or the sight of a hairy under arm is a major turn off for many women. What is stopping many men around from flaunting their well toned body is fear of getting cuts around the sensitive areas of the body. A normal razor does more harm than good.

I was sent one of them to try out and write my experience on using it. The body groomer in one sentence is the best thing to happen to men after shavers and trimmers. The groomer is battery operated, is water proof, can be used under water and has options of even trimming hair to, 2 different lengths. The blades are two sided and hence the groomer can be used both the ways. It has got no sharp edges that may cut off your skin like other razors. Be it your regular grooming routine for chest and arms or anything south, the Philips Bodygroom series 1000 is well equipped to handle all. These nifty, compact tools come with a bidirectional trimmer which provides as close a trim as 0.5mm.  With a unique skin protector, which makes it painless and safe for sensitive areas.

The fear of having hair getting pulled out like an epilator is also zero even though this is a mechanised blade, not once did I have my hair pulled out. It was all chop chop and ready to go in 15 minutes. The first time you shave, it may take you some time to get used to it because unlike a razor where you go in one direction, this one is best used in multiple directions. For under-arms too, it chops off hair so well, it is almost like a shave with a blade.

Cleaning it is super easy too, there is a mini brush, to remove the smaller strands, or you can also directly hold it under a tap to have it clean.

For the privates, you need to be a little slow, but this works like a charm. No hassles what so ever.

Check this video to know how it works!

The Body Groomer series by Philips are available on both online and offline stores, starting INR 1295 to INR 1495.

P.S: There is something awesome coming in my next post. Your chance to win this awesome Body Groomer. Go check it out here.

A good day for Gelato

Well that is odd right? Did you ever wonder there would be a Gelato flavour by Chumbak? We have known chumbak to be that brand who started off with Fridge magnets, Mobile phone charms, bags etc, but a Gelato? It was hard for me to believe too when I was invited to try it out!

Chumbak along with Milano Ice Creams have come up with an exclusive  Chumbak flavour that was decided after a contest that was run on Twitter by them to suggest a flavour. After a lot of brainstorming, it was finally decided that the flavour would be?

On International Music Day- A tete-a-tete with music

What is common between Ricky Kej, Nelson Mandela and Mahatma Gandhi? It isn’t really hard to figure. Nelson Mandela and Mahatma Gandhi had humble beginnings in the awesome country of South Africa. But how is India’s recent Grammy Award winning musician Ricky Kej connected?

There is one thing that brings together is what brings the world around. Music. That is the element that has been bringing people together, religions, races, humans together as one. Good music satisfies your soul. It awakens your inner emotions and I had the opportunity to interact with Ricky Kej on the eve of World Music Day celebrated across the world in honour of the great Nelson Mandela who loved music and always felt that music brought peace amongst one and all.

I met Ricky at his studio in Bangalore where we spent close to two hours discussing movies, music, his journey and of course his inspiration for the soulful music that he makes.

Pic: Indian Express

Read on for the full interview:

How is it going with you post the Grammy win? Are we going to see you making music for movies now?
It has been hectic, but good (laughs). On films, they are something that I am not going to do. They do not fit into my plans or scheme of work. They do not interest me. I have always believed in making music for myself and something that I like or rather have the freedom to do. With films, I’m bound by a story track, a situation and I have to make music in accordance to that. I will always make music that represents me.

I love Shanti Orchestra and your first album the Kama Sutra lounge. What is the inspiration behind the kind of music you make?
For me, like I said, music has to be something that is an extension of me. From quite a young age, I have always  felt that there are certain personalities across the world, who were quite ahead of their times and I think two such people are Nelson Mandela and Mahatma Gandhi, who made a difference in the world and the path they followed then were considered to be blasphemous and today it is considered as a modern yardstick. Infact everything that they ever said is even more relevant in today’s world.
That shows how they would think ahead of their times and how open minded their thoughts and approach towards life was. And I have been a huge fan of Gandhi and when I met Wouter Kellerman, we were planning to meet each other for 3 years and we were a fan of each other’s work and we knew that our music was in alignment with each other’s thoughts and we were wondering what we could do, that is when it just came up that I had made some music on Mahatma Gandhi and he said he had made some on Nelson Mandela, his father of the nation and Mahatma being our father of the nation, and we realised that Mandela was inspired by a lot of principles of Gandhi and Mahatma Gandhi lived in South Africa in his initial years, so we decided that I would send my music on Gandhi and he would send his music on Mandela and I would add a bit of Indian-ness to the Mandela piece and he would do the vice-versa and that was how the project began. During that time we also travelled around the world and collaborated with various musicians around the world and at the end of it we had the album.

Did you get a chance to meet the Mandela family?
No I haven’t. Wouter did may be. I know for a fact that he played for his 80th birthday just before he passed away and he watched it from his death bed. So it was a wonderful experience for him.

How different is the music scene or rather the acceptance in the US from what it is in India?
Initially I was just a music appreciator than a music maker. I remember I used to love my music system more than the Television. I hardly watched any TV. For me my ears were more important than my eyes. And in around 6th standard, I just picked up the guitar and started playing it, I was a self taught musician. Much later in my life did I formally study Hindustani Classical music and Western Classical music.
It was only after I became a professional I realised that I wanted to make music for myself with freedom than for someone like I said earlier for films. When that happened, I quickly understood that I would not be able to sell my music in India, because to do so, I had to be a part of the film industry and make music there. I could not sit and crib that I cannot do anything here. Gone are those days where the audience would come finding for the musician. We now have to reach out to the audience because they are constantly fed with music on an everyday basis through various mediums. I was fortunate enough that I realised this early on and went finding my audience across the world.

Have you ever thought of collaborating with any of the Indian independent musicians like Rahul Sharma?
That is definitely possible. I am excited about collaborating with the Indian musicians like Rahul Sharma, certain bands who have some great music and are popular amongst the Indian market. But the independent musician market can never grow to the level of the Indian film music scene not matter how many collaborations happen. For example you see the musicians who make music for movies on twitter and their followers and compare it for the independent ones, you’ll know the difference.

As a man who makes music, have you ever thought of mentoring or giving the upcoming musicians a chance on the international platform?
Winds of Samsara was all about that. Infact many Indians were a part of the album. They showcased their talents and every single one of them who were a part of it, lifted the album and did what I couldn’t. They are extremely talented musicians who I found through watching their performances or recommendations etc. Some of them have recorded songs for me recently too and I continue to work with them for their talent.

Any offers from Hollywood?
There are two major leads that I am hoping will materialise soon and I have my fingers crossed on.

What do you have to say about the International Music Day happening, considering that not many in India really know about it?
Every country has different phases, struggles chronicled through music. Music has to be an extension of one’s personality. I feel that the issues of every country must also be made with music to reach to a larger set of people, and considering India’s scenario right now, all we see are love songs coming out rather than chronicling pieces of history, events.

Have you thought of taking  that initiative?
I am working on that and coming back to Nelson Mandela, the Nelson Mandela day stands for  basic things that everybody must have access to food, home, spend time in giving back to your country and this is not just about a South Africa thing. This holds good for the whole world, and music has been written about say the dignity of owning a home and food and scarcity.
One of my video talks about giving love than being violent and that is what Gandhi spoke of and Mandela also spoke of. Usually when you have a fight or an argument or whatever, it usually is that a non violent way is far more effective with love than getting violent about it. Because that just escalates and then reaches to a point where you hit back and stuff. But then that just becomes like what Gandhi said, “An eye for an eye, makes the whole world Blind”. That is what I try to show through my music, different values and thoughts from these two great visionaries, because a peaceful approach is the most logical and the easiest approach.

To take you a little back to an incident where you almost lost your life, how has all this influence from two great people, helped you cope up in trying situations where it is really easy to lose your cool?
It is difficult to stay calm when no one is listening to you. Every situation has a different reaction. There needs to be an intent to hear you out. Your first instinct is always to go out with all guns blazing but you need to understand that it may not really work and patience would be the key here.

Lastly, do you think India needs a Nelson Mandela here, to free us up from the corruption, apathy etc?
There are a lot of role models for people to look up to and learn, but I think Mandela and Gandhi were born out of extreme situations, like the freedom struggle, racism, apartheid, at a time when people were deeply influenced by culture and tradition and they could not believe that what they were saying was right but they managed to convince them that it was wrong. I am not the right person or enlightened enough to see the society from a bird’s eye view like these visionaries. Probably there will be someone who will be able to their views may then become the yardstick for the future.

At the end all I want to say is that these guys propagated peace through their work and I hope to make music that brings peace amongst an individual and that would be my challenge.

This Photographer has been creating waves across! Read why!

I recently had the wonderful opportunity to talk to someone who has been breaking barriers, carving a niche for herself and currently is one of India's finest Industrial/ Product photographers.

Here's bringing to you, Shraddha Kadakia,- a Visual Communicator is the Founder and Managing Director at Just Click Image Making Company. With her unusual stint for commercial photography Shraddha founded her entrepreneurial dream right at the age of 21 to turn it into a mythical congregation today that serves the industry with the delight of art, workshops, training and consulting apart from photography and filming, which form the core of Just Click’s offering.
A photographer with a difference, her subjects are intriguing. Shraddha specializes into automobile and commercial photography– a domain usually reserved for men. Within a short span of nine years, her zealous vision yielded her desired clients like Skoda Auto Ltd., Bajaj Auto, Apollo Tyers, DC Design, Maruti, Hero Motocorp in the automobile industry and uncountable others across corporate, industrial, fashion and architectural sectors. Having experienced the focus and appreciation given to photography in United States, she feels a strong urge to spread the awareness in her homeland and seed a positive respectable perspective for the field of photography.

So I asked her some questions on her career, the genre of photography and talk about her experience so far. Read on to know more:

Smelly to Smiley in seconds!!

BlogAdda recently sent this strange parcel to me that had been packed over 4 times and that was funny. They have this knack of getting you interested in the parcels you receive and get you excited. So I started opening them one by one and discovered that it was the Ambi Pur Air Effects room freshner that I had to review.

Now the thing with room freshners is, I am allergic to strong scents. I start sneezing almost immediately and that is irritating. Infact even when we have a freshner in the car, I feel nauseated and ultimately throw up. I was a little sceptical because I got the Blossom & Breeze fragrance and from past experience, flowery scents immediately get the Red light going up in my Head (cue- Inside out).
I asked my mum not to touch it or use it at home because even when sprayed an hour before I enter home, I can sense the smell and lose control over my sinus muscles :P. Hence it lay at on the shelves for a couple of days all alone. Secretly I know it would have cursed me had it been a living thing for ignoring it.

But it was on Thursday, when we had guests over at home and my neighbour started cooking fish at 6 in the evening. Can you beat that? The worst part, our kitchen faces their kitchen and so the stink of Fish cooking gets into our house first. Not even their house. What is worse a house full of fish stink or a better fragrance? I ultimately had to give in and spray the room freshner. I put around a handkerchief around my nose to avoid it and sprayed it all over the house.

In a jiffy, the whole stink was gone!!! EUREKA! I wanted to shout… but manners :P So I gently pulled out the kerchief and found that the fragrance was not irritating at all. It was just awesome. So fresh and not “flowery”. It killed the smell instantly. There was only a sweet fragrance around that also helped lighten the mood making everyone go from #SmellyToSmiley and the best part? It stayed for a while. Even after the guests left,  we could smell it in pockets of the house.

I just have one word for it! AWESOME!!!

I am blogging for #SmellyToSmiley at BlogAdda in association with Ambi Pur.

The King of Fruits, now at Starbucks!

When God was making mankind, he had a thought. A thought about giving us the best of everything, but alas we ruined it. :P There still remains something that is the best. We call it the "Mango". It is not called the king of fruits just like that. Everyone, once in their life have yearned for the Mango season and that is what Starbucks has brought in this time.

The Mangoes are in the Starbucks inventories and waiting for you to go gorge on them. Along with the Mango Mania, there are a couple of other summer ready drinks to check out.

So Starbucks has brought in exciting new avatars for its patrons to indulge in the Alphonso Mango Frappuccino and the delicate Baked Mango Yogurt crafted exclusively for the mango lovers in India.

You have the option to customize and add your touch to the frappuccino to have it taste the way you want to. Add, choco chips, hazelnut sauce, vanilla whatever you may like and #SayYes to your Frappuccino.

We were invited to try them out at the Starbucks outlet on Church Street and also play a small fun game and win the GRAND PRIZE!!

The new Alphonso Mango Frappuccino is a blend of pure Alphonso mango and milk mingled with ice and topped with a swirl of whipped cream. This flavour combination of mango and cream creates a familiar and comforting treat that’s perfect for the summer season. I did customize my Alphonso Mango Frappuccino by adding crunchy java chips and mocha drizzle.

The Mango season lasts only for a while, so will it at Starbucks! All the Starbucks stores in India will serve the delicious Mango Frappuccinos only through May and June 2015.

Dark Mocha Frappuccino and Mocha Caramel Crunch Frappuccino is among the other new variants available at Starbucks India.

Coming to the fun activity that we played at the venue, it was called the Starbucks Funventures. It is a little activity where you team up with someone and finish the given tasks to win. I said Yes to it and took part only to team up with my all time partner, Suman.

Who do you think won? Guess...One try... HAHAHAHAHA we won!!!! When we team up, the other teams must know they are participating to get participation certificates :P

Meanwhile, do visit Starbucks and try these new beverages and chill out enjoy!

Oh BTW here are our #SipFaceChallenge pictures. Did you make yours?

Don't Wait Until it is too late!

Ever wondered what would happen if, all of a sudden at the age of 25/30 you suffered a stroke? Or figured your arteries are blocked and need a surgery?

Did you know that today, many youngsters die of heart attacks because of stress and wrong diets? The level of risk today is much higher wth the increased stress levels and our erratic schedules that lead to unhealthy eating habits.

It was then that I realised that I need to get exercising and cut down on my cheese and oils. I had started getting really lazy and piling up fact. That is when I had Indus Health Plus approach me to get a full body health check up which we also know as a preventive health check up. This health check up is an intense one and you need to spend one whole day at the hospital for all your tests to finish. It tells you what you need to do and what measures need to be taken in order to live a healthy lifestyle. I was given options to choose between Apollo hospital and Vikram Hospitals. I chose Vikram because it was closer to home.

Ideally I would recommend everyone to take these tests once you are 30, but in today's scenario, this needs to be taken at 25 once, 35, and next at 50. This covers all your ages and keeps you informed about your health.

We were adviced to go for the Essential Heart Checkup that consisted of 53 tests(now you know why you need a whole day to spare). This costs you Rs 15,000 normally, but Indus is offering the same for only Rs 7676/-

These are the tests that we took:

An explanation of what each test is.

Post this I had a counselling session with the Doctor who asked me about my general health and family history of illnesses. The doctor was extremely nice and explained to me what parameters I need to concentrate on and what I need to do to continue staying healthy.

Luckily my tests were all normal and I do not have any abnormal levels of any life threatening diseases.

Again, I would suggest everyone to take up these tests atleast once in life so that you avoid major illnesses and trips to multiple doctors.

Take a trip to Arabia at the Ritz Carlton

The Ritz Carlton Bangalore in association with Air Arabia flew down one of the best chefs from Ritz Carlton Dubai Rami Alkmat for the Taste of Arabia food festival that is on from the 14th to the 17th of this month.

When you talk about Arabic food, you usually associate it with Lebanese delicacies. But there is more to it. That is why you ought to attend this festival to tickle your taste buds.

Chef Rami Alkmat joined the Ritz- Carlton, Dubai at the pre-opening phase of its all-new Shorooq wing. He was a wonderful host throughout the evening with a tinge of humor and full of liveliness. His passion towards food clearly reflected in the delicacies that were served for the evening.

I was there to try the same the other day and the first thing that makes you rave about the hospitality at the Ritz is each of us had a personalised menu with our names on it. Mediterranean food is usually very filling. A lot of their dishes have passed on to the Indian culture all thanks to the Mughal period. Like what chef mentioned to us, the dal makhani, what we call it our own in the north, is actually an Arabic dish called Harrak Espoo. So the flavours, essentially the same, have been tweaked through generations.

We started off with a spiced tea that literally brought me back to life after a long tiring day at work. It smelt like it had mint and camphor in it, toped with walnuts. One sip was enough!

Every meal starts off with appetisers, this was no different. We were served a Mezze Platter with different kinds of hummus and tahini. One made with beetroot, other brinjal, one with nuts. Each of it had a distinctive flavour and texture that made it unique in itself. There was the traditional falafel, shawarma rolls, and Pita bread.

While I was at that, I wondered what a lentil soup would taste like and how is it prepared. When it actually came on to my plate, I had gulped it down before the others had finished half of their chicken soups. It was truly amazing. It was the right amount of spice and flavour. Nice texture that wasn't too watery or thick.

The chef then presented a very different looking dish. He called it the Falafel and Chickpeas Fatta. A pretty unusual name, but cracker of a dish. It was probably cooked in butter, had yoghurt in it mixed with chickpeas( kabuki channa) and chilli power sprinkled. The first two spoons seemed a little bland, but it grew on me. The taste of butter with falafel and yoghurt is "Marhaba" ;)

The main course was a nice spread of Arabic dishes that were to be eaten with Naan or roti. Along with the buffet, we had grilled vegetables too, which I kind of missed because of a confusion.
The vegetable sides in the buffet could have tasted better I feel. Everything was too dry and no gravy. The non vegetarian options were gravy based.

But can any meal ever be done with just this? There has to be a happy ending to it!!! Chef Rami had a trick up his sleeve and gave us a dessert that goes on to my list of must try, must make desserts.

The desert, was a bread pudding, but the Egyptian way. The recipe to make this is simple, you need a croissant that needs to soaked in milk and rose water, which is then topped with heavy cream and then baked! Insane amount of calories, but top notch taste! No matter what you do, dont miss this.

That was well my foodietrail at the Taste of Arabia festival brought it Ritz Carlton all thanks to Air Arabia. This is on till the 17th and is not to be missed.

249 is all you need!

California Pizza Kitchen, the awesome guys who make the tastiest pizzas, launched a brand new offer that allows you to have their mouth watering range of 9" Pizzas, an appetizer and a beverage for only Rs 249. That is it!!!

So we as we usually do, got to go and check out the all new range of 9" pizzas and salads. Patrons can choose from a variety of below mentioned pizzas throughout Monday to Friday at only 249. Beat that!
These are the newly introduced pizzas:
  • Apollo Pizza
  • Tijuana Chicken Pizza
  • Spicy Cilantro Pizza (Veg and Non- Veg)
  • Kasundi Paneer Pizza
  • Rustica
  • Capriciossa (Veg and Non- Veg)
The pizzas I don't have to say that again, but have a distinctive taste of their own. They aren't what you usually get. That is what I enjoy.

We started off with the Spicy Cilantro Pizza and the Pesto Pizza in the Vegetarian ones. Trust me, I haven't had a pesto pizza before but this was out of the world. Simple yet so tasty. The flavours of parmesan and pesto hit us right back in the mouth and that is good.

The Cilantro Pizza was good too. Had a nice tinge of Cilantro and olives on it.Tasted like an authentic pizza. I love thin Crust pizzas and these are thin crust. So I loved them more.

I did not quite nejoy the Kasundi Paneer Pizza. Not for my pallete.

You come to CPK and dont eat desserts? That ain't gonna happen. We ordered the Red Velevt Cake, Tiramisu, Sticky Toffee Pudding and Chocolate Banana Cake. What happened next? Plates were clean as a slate!!

Thai Therapies at JW

Last week was pretty hectic. Had been travelling around and shuttling between places promoting my film. I needed a break! Call it perfect timing or a coincidence, but I was invited by JW Marriott to try out their all new Thai Therapies at Spa by JW.

The Thai Therapies are part of a month long celebration of JW's Thai festival where one can go relax and unwind. They have Authentic Thai massages that will help you relieve all your tensions, stress and make you feel fresh and rejuvenated.

Once I reached JW, I was asked by Mr Manish, who manages Spa to choose the kind of therapy that I wanted to undergo. I could choose from the THai Fusion Massage, Royal FOur Hand, Traditional Thai Massage and Deep Renewal Massage. The massages varied in time. A couple were 90 minute therapies and a couple 60 minute ones.

A new life beckons #StartANewLife

In my last post, you read on how I embarked on my journey towards fame, glamour by jumping into acting in films. What more could I write on next other than starting a new life, a new journey.

We often go through periods where you just feel you need to press the reset button and start life afresh. Pity that life doesn't really have such a thing. We are all like trains on a journey, but our destination is unknown. We get in to the grind due to varied compulsions but after a point, we cannot take it any further. You need that fire in you burning to start and do what you always wanted to. We saw this in the movie 3 idiots post which a lot of us were inspired to do what we always wanted.

It is easy to say, follow your dreams, but hard to do. Any one would love to be paid to travel, eat etc, but only if that too was easy. Similarly people think the job that I do, that is Acting must be a cake walk. After all what do we do? Just go there and act! I so wish it was like that, all of us would then be competing agaisnt the Big B and SRK.

I left my day job and started doing films. I acted in one and started on a journey full of uncertainities a new life where I could touch new heights, and face new challenges. It feels wierd. A new journey? probably yes, but are all the things new? No! Yet it is a new life, a second chance where I will go on to do what others dont. I will go on to do what I love doing and do other things simultaneously. I may fall and rise, but there will be no one to blame for it. I shall stand tall and work hard to make it count, because we have one life, not everybody gets a second innings, so make it large.

It gets embarrassing for my family to admit that I am playing around with my life unlike the millions in the country who are doing what they are doing with out their will. Atleast, I am happy. I have started working towards changing my outlook and my only aim is to make sure, you sitting there and reading this aren't doing what you do, reluctantly. If you do, then let us hope that even you get a scond chance and get to #StartANewLife

For all the people who want to #StartANewLife but are afraid of the change, always remember change is good, positive and refreshing. It signifies that you are moving forward, living better, and giving yourselves the chance to be the best you can possibly be.

A brilliant concept by https://housing.com/ will give a better perspective to #StartANewLife. Watch the video below:

When you live together, life's awesome

I have had a turbulent 3 years. During my masters, all I wanted to do was to become a film maker. I was no where close to achieving that dream and all of a sudden I was pulled into working on a Hindi Movie with some of the biggest stars. Rubbing shoulders with them on a daily basis meant that I was learning a lot from them each day and this started getting me closer to what I wanted.

Soon that stint got over and i went on to finish my Masters in Communication and got hired by one of the largest PR agencies in the world. Through this time I had my family with me to support me through out. They knew that I wanted to be in the movie making business but I was there doing PR. It was great,  but not fun. I knew the stuff, but I did not enjoy it as much. It was during this period that, a friend of mine went and auditioned for a role in a Kannada movie. She however did not go on to act in the movie because of her reasons, but she did something that I shall never forget. She went on to show my pictures to the producers and I was called on for an audition.

And like they say, "...the rest is history". I bagged the lead role in a film, which was a huge huge thing. They say that when you are doing something good, you often face a lot of obstacles before you can finally execute it. That holds true for my journey. After I bagged the role, I wnet on to work in the PR firm for about 6 months before I started shooting for the film. We completed the shoot in about 40 days. It was a tough decision to take. Leaving a secure 9-5 job and jumping into a 12 hour shift, with no security. My mother stood with me through out this. She supported me constantly and let me chase my dreams no matter what. It has been tough on her. She had to answer people on why her son wasn't working, but today when she sees my progress, I know I have made her proud.

If it wasn't for her, I would have continued to sit in an office with AC, gotten fat and yet not been satisfied with my efforts. My movie took about an year to finally come out to be what it looks like today and we just concluded a private screening a couple of days back! It has been a fun ride. If you have your family with you, together, you can chase your dreams, get through any kind of phases and yet come out victorious.

I believe in the inimitable power of optimism just like https://housing.com/ does. As Housing.com rightly preaches - most times, it's the company that matters more than the advice, and that is the power of being #together!
